SANTA BARBARA VOLLEYBALL CLUB PROGRAMS

CLUB VOLLEYBALL
The Club fields Travel teams which compete in SCVA tournaments in all age divisions, ranging from 12-Under through 18-Under. Players in the 5th through 8th grades who choose not to travel, or are not selected for a travel team, may participate in our "non-traveling" training program, the Blenders. Through the Travel and Blenders programs, the Club serves over 250 female athletes each Club season!

Travel Teams
Those players selected for a travel team will train for, and compete in, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION outhern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) tournaments and a post-season tournament.

The SCVA is a regional affiliate of USA VOLLEYBALL, the national governing body for amateur volleyball, and all tournament matches are played in accordance with USAV Rules. The SCVA is made up of club teams in all age divisions from San Diego County to San Luis Obispo County and east to Las Vegas. Each year, approximately 850 teams participate in SCVA tournaments.

The Club season extends from December through June. Travel Teams travel to and compete in at least one to two SCVA tournaments each month, approximately eight to ten tournaments over the course of the season depending on the age division. The 17U and 18U teams also participate in the SCVA Las Vegas Invitational Tournament over President's Day weekend, and team in all age divisions compete in the SCVA's 3-day Junior Olympic Qualifier during spring break.

Travel Teams who qualify will also participate at the Junior Olympics during late June or early July, this is mandatory. The JUNIOR OLYMPICS is a national elite tournament which requires teams to qualify at a Qualifier tournament or through their Region to receive a berth. Its venue changes from year to year.

Travel Teams who do not qualify for Junior Olympics have the option to partcipate in a post-season tournament, such as the VOLLEYBALL FESTIVAL in Reno, Nevada, which is one of the largest female sporting events with more than 850 teams participating from across the United States and Canada. There are various other post-season tournaments offered each season as well and are posted under the Tournament section when information is obtained.

"Blenders" - Non Travel Teams
Sponsored by Blenders In The Grass!
Blenders is an outstanding opportunity for players who are not able to participate on our travel teams, but would like to be a part of a competitive volleyball team. Players in the 5th through 8th grades who participate in Blenders will receive individual instruction, develop their skills, and participate in organized competition. The purpose of Blenders is to teach young players the fundamental skills so they can play on a travel team in the future. Players in Blenders will be placed onto teams who will meet and train twice a week and participate in tournaments organized by the Club. There may be some travel to surrounding areas for tournaments hosted by other local clubs. Currently, Blenders begins in February and extends through May. Players who qualify and choose to do so will have the opportunity to continue in the Blenders All-Star program through the month of June. Blenders has a limited capacity, therefore, a waiting list will be created once the Blenders has reached its maximum during the sign-up period.
