The 14-1 team of the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club lost a tough 15-12 third game against Sunshine-13 Crimson in its final qualifying tournament match and will start the regular season of the Southern California Volleyball Association in Division 2.
"Amazing consistent and solid play from all players is what led to our success. A coach couldn't ask for more from their players," said coach K.C. Collins.
The 14-2 team will start the season in Division 4 after finishing in a three-way tie for fourth in its final qualifier.
Coach Tina Brown lauded the play of Haley Fuller, McKenna Hogue and Hannah Harris.
The 13-1 team also will start the season in Division 4. Coach Roger Kuntz praised the hitting of Sierra Hofstatter.
Greg Novak's 16-1 team moved back into the Gold Division for the last qualifying round after going 3-0 last weekend.
"The highlight of the day was a six-point run to pull out a victory after being down 19-24 in the last match. The team knew they needed to sweep their opponents. Each player took their turn stepping up when we needed points," said Novak.
Linda Schoch and Kristen Schroeder provided steady play in the back row, while Rachel Szyeller and Grace Conner had seven and nine point serving streaks.
The 16-2 team went 2-1 on the day.
