GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club's 18-Elite team finished 20th out of 121 teams at the Las Vegas Invitational, a showcase tournament for potential college recruits. The team posted a 7-2 record, falling in the semifinals of the Gold Division Bronze Bracket. Co-coach Jason Donnelly praised the play of Andrea Ragan and Annie Villlanueva.
The club's 18-1 team made it to the championship match of its division but lost two close games 25-23, 25-21. Coach Dax Holdren lauded the play of Natalie Voorn, Sophie Harris and Jennifer Murphy.
The club's 17-1 team competed in the 17's Open Division, and coach Ed Gover said he was pleased with the steady improvement during the three-day tournament. He highlighted Katie Borden, Cara Spieler, Hadley Simmons and Kristen Kuntz.
