GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The 14-2 and 15-1 teams of the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club got back into the gold bracket for the third qualifying round in the Southern California Volleyball Association with good performances last weekend.
The 15-1 team of Chris Webb went 3-0 to win its pool. "Katie Shea's relentless thrashings on the outside attack brought confidence to our team," said Webb, who also praised Morgan Riegert, Lillie Hodges and Katy Villanueva.
Tina Brown's 14-2 squad went 2-1 and got good play from Nicole Tetherow, Iris Campbell and Diana Sleep.
Dax Holdren guided the 18-1 team to a 3-0 pool-play finish. He praised Ali Cole, Anna Gerngross, Claire Woolf and Natalie Voorn.
Coach Ed Gover's 17-1 squad went 2-1, but ended up in a three-way tie and finished third based on a tiebreaker.
The 15-2 team of Molly Taylor went 1-2 in the Silver Bracket. Taylor lauded the play of Victoria Chandler and Krystal Van Der Ark.
