The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club's 14-1 and 14-2 teams both went undefeated in pool play in last weekend's "Mandatory #2" tournament. The 14-1 team, still ranked second overall in the 14s division, placed third, remaining in Division 1, after going 3-0 in pool play and 1-1 in playoffs.
"Our passing, defense and blocking are getting better every week," coach Liz Towne Gilbert said.
The 14-2 team won its second tournament in a row and moved up to Division 5.
Though missing three players and two others ailing, "The team really showed off its hard work in practice to come out strong and decidedly win all matches with many kills, digs and even a few blocks," said coach K.C. Collins.
The 13-1 team won a playoff match to stay in Division 2, after going 0-3 in pool play, while the 13-2 team took third place to remain in Division 7.
The 18-1 team, after a tough day Sunday, moved down to Division 2 after going 0-3 in pool play and losing a playoff game.
