We played our best volleyball of the short season during this past weekend. Everybody on the team played a key role in is finishing in 7th place. It says a lot about the team when all 11 players can contribute to its success. It was a great weekend for the team to see how we rank up against the top quality opponents from in and out of California. It was a big accomplishment for our team to finish in 7th place with such a deep field of teams.

On Friday, we advanced in the upper division by taking first in our pool, winning 8 straight games. On Saturday, we remained a contender for the top 16 when we won a tiebreaker match in pool play, but later lost a heartbreaker Challenge Match, losing in the third game 13-15. Still in in the top 24, our first playoff match on Sunday was a nailbiter where we squeaked out an 18-16 win in the third game, and eventually lost in the finals of the Silver Division placing us 18th in a field of 94. The important part of this team is they continue to improve with each match they play. We had an excellent weekend and I'm very proud of the entire team and every player! |

We showed some good, positive signs of improvement. Unfortunately making improvements at this level does not always translate into victories. The team is understanding what it takes to compete at this level all of the time. We have managed to play some really good teams in close battles. We just need to figure out how to get over the hump. |
